Christmas Lights
from:Christmas is a wonderful, joyous time when family and friends gather. The children are excited because Santa is coming soon while the parents are looking forward to the excitement of seeing the happiness on their children’s faces Christmas morning. It is an extremely busy time of year with decorating, planning wonderful meals, shopping and arranging to get together with friends and loved ones. Many families go pick out their own tree and cut it down themselves. After bringing it home, they hang their Christmas lights on their tree. Some people love a tree with multi colored Christmas lights while others prefer one color, such as gold or red. They add all the cherished Christmas ornaments and the final touch is the tree topper. Some homes have two or three Christmas trees inside with each decorated in a different theme and Christmas lights. No longer just placed on the tree, people use Christmas lights indoors on the fireplace mantel, down the railing on the stairs and in their windows. Some people get very creative, build a little Christmas village with artificial snow, and add tiny Christmas lights.
Many homeowners absolutely love decorating the outside of their homes for their own and everyone else’s enjoyment at Christmas time. Often the planning for this begins months before the Christmas season begins. If this is something that you would like to do, start small and each year, add more Christmas lights and decorations. The best time to buy Christmas lights and outdoor ornaments is right after Christmas when they are on sale at greatly reduced prices. For those of you that are very handy or artsy, make your own frames such as candy canes or snowmen and then add the Christmas lights. For people living in apartments or condominiums, use Christmas lights to decorate your balcony or hang a huge wreath with twinkling lights for everyone to admire. Mixing a combination of different types of Christmas lights will make any home look spectacular. Some of the different Christmas lights available are:
* Rope lights – great for along the roof, railings or on trees and available in flashing, continuous, chasing or intermittent sequences just to name a few
* Icicle Christmas lights – beautiful along the roof line
* Fiber optics
* Novelty lights
* Net lights – throw them over your shrubs, hedges or small trees
Christmas lights turn boring streets and homes into fabulous winter wonderlands where people express their festive moods and styles. Taking a drive with the family in the evening and looking at these spectacular displays are memories we never forget. Many parks put on wonderful Christmas light exhibits where all the trees are lit up along with animated light displays of children ice skating, reindeer pulling Santa’s sled or giant candy canes and Christmas gifts. It would not be Christmas without Christmas lights.
